Delicious heart-shaped cookies perfect for Valentine’s Day, easy to make and fun to decorate.

- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Red and pink sprinkles (for decoration)
- Royal icing (for decoration, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until it’s light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract. Mix well.
- In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this to the butter mixture.
- Mix until everything is combined. The dough should be soft but not sticky.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thick.
- Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes.
- Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly golden.
- Once cooled, decorate with royal icing and sprinkles.
Notes
Make sure your butter is softened, not melted for fluffier cookies. Chill the dough for better shaping.
