Description

A delightful pastry that combines soft dough with a rich walnut filling, perfect for gatherings or a quiet afternoon treat.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for filling)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the sour cream, softened butter, sugar, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the yeast mixture to the sour cream mixture and stir.
  4. Gradually add flour until a dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, then place it in a greased bowl and cover. Let it rise for 1 hour.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Roll the dough out into a rectangle.
  8. In a bowl, mix chopped walnuts and sugar for the filling, then spread it evenly on the rolled dough.
  9. Roll the dough tightly and place it seam side down on a baking sheet.
  10. Brush with egg wash and cut slits on top.
  11. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. Let cool before slicing.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or refrigerate for a week. Can be frozen for longer storage.
