Delightful cookies with a rich, nutty flavor from brown butter, featuring crispy edges and chewy centers.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until it turns brown and has a nutty aroma. Remove it from heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the brown butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix until well combined.
  4. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months. Experiment with different types of chocolate chips or add nuts for variation.
