Description

Deliciously sweet candy apples with a crunchy candy shell, perfect for fall fairs and parties.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large apples
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1 cup water
  • red food coloring
  • sticks or skewers

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry apples well.
  2. Insert a stick into the top of each apple.
  3. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water.
  4. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  5. Bring to a boil without stirring until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  6. Remove from heat and add red food coloring.
  7. Dip each apple into the candy mixture, coating it completely.
  8. Place the coated apples on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to cool.

Notes

Use firm, fresh apples for best results. Work quickly when dipping the apples.
