Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with sour cream. Fold in the diced apples.
- Divide the batter among the cupcake liners and bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- For the frosting, beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth, adding milk as needed for consistency.
- Frost cooled cupcakes with cinnamon cream cheese frosting, drizzle with caramel sauce, and garnish with apple slices.
Notes
Use firm apples like Fuji or Honeycrisp. Chill the frosting briefly for easier piping.
