- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Steam or boil the broccoli florets until tender. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute to create a roux.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, continuing to stir until the mixture thickens.
- Add in the shredded cheddar cheese and garlic powder, stirring until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Pour the cheese sauce over the cooked broccoli and serve warm.
Notes
Grate the cheese fresh for best melting and flavor. Add a little milk if the sauce is too thick. Store the sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
