Description

A quick and creamy cheese sauce that enhances broccoli, perfect for weeknights and kid-friendly meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Steam or boil the broccoli florets until tender. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute to create a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, continuing to stir until the mixture thickens.
  5. Add in the shredded cheddar cheese and garlic powder, stirring until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Pour the cheese sauce over the cooked broccoli and serve warm.

Notes

Grate the cheese fresh for best melting and flavor. Add a little milk if the sauce is too thick. Store the sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
