Description

Chocolate Brioche Bread is a delightful treat that combines the richness of brioche with the indulgence of chocolate, perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate, chopped or chocolate chips
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warmed milk and sugar; add yeast and let it sit until frothy.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs; mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the chocolate evenly, and roll it up tightly.
  6. Cut the roll in half lengthwise, twist the two halves together, and form a braid.
  7. Place in a greased loaf pan, cover, and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Brush the braid with beaten egg.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
  11. Let cool before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature, and store wrapped for 2-3 days at room temperature or freeze for longer storage.
