Description

A soft loaf with a thick apple and cinnamon sugar center, topped with a sweet glaze. Perfect for breakfast or as a dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 11/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 11/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (1 stick)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 11/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 large apple (peeled, cored, and chopped into small pieces)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Beat the butter, sugar, and vanilla together until smooth.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well.
  5. Alternately add flour mixture and milk until fully combined.
  6. Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and apple in a separate bowl.
  7. Pour half the batter into the pan, layer with half the apple mixture, and swirl lightly.
  8. Add the remaining batter and top with the remaining apple mixture, swirling again.
  9. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar mixture on top.
  10. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Cool in the pan for 15-20 minutes, then drizzle with glaze made from confectioners’ sugar, cinnamon, and water.

Notes

Use firm apples to avoid mushiness. Avoid over-swirl for better layering. Can be stored at room temperature for 2 days or refrigerated for 5 days.
