Description

These cinnamon sugar baked donut holes are quick, soft, and full of warm cinnamon flavor. A great snack or dessert with a crunchy sweet coating.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup milk (any kind)
  • ¼ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste (or vanilla extract)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted and slightly cooled)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 24-count mini muffin pan with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar with an electric hand mixer or stand mixer until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add egg, milk, yogurt, and vanilla. Mix until combined.
  5. Add dry ingredients into wet ingredients and incorporate until just combined.
  6. Spoon mixture into a large ziplock bag, cut the tip of the bottom corner, and pipe filling into each muffin cavity, filling 3/4 full.
  7. Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Remove from oven and let cool in pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Once cooled, dip each donut hole into melted butter, then roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture.

Notes

Do not overmix the batter. Fill each muffin cavity 3/4 full for even rise. Let donut holes cool completely before dipping to ensure the coating sticks.
