- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for rolling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
- Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl.
- Mix together the melted butter, egg, buttermilk, and vanilla extract in another bowl.
- Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow to cool slightly before removing from the pan.
- Mix the sugar and cinnamon for rolling in a small bowl.
- Roll each donut in the cinnamon-sugar mixture while still warm.

Notes
Do not overmix the batter, fill each pan cavity about 2/3 full, and roll donuts while warm for best results.
