Description

Tender beef slow-cooked to perfection, served in hoagie rolls with optional provolone cheese and au jus for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs beef chuck roast
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 6 hoagie rolls
  • Sliced provolone cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the beef chuck roast in the crockpot.
  2. Add sliced onion, minced garlic, beef broth, water, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 4-5 hours until the meat is tender.
  4. Remove the roast and shred the beef with two forks.
  5. Toast the hoagie rolls if desired.
  6. Pile the shredded beef onto the rolls and top with provolone cheese.
  7. Serve with a small bowl of au jus for dipping.

Notes

Trim excess fat from the roast for less grease. Add a bay leaf or a splash of red wine for extra flavor. Store leftovers in airtight containers for up to 4 days.
