This fun and easy recipe shows how to make soft, chewable bubble gum at home using simple kitchen ingredients.
Ingredients

- 2 cups white granulated sugar
- ½ cup light corn syrup
- ½ cup clean water
- 1 tbsp plain, unflavored gelatin powder
- ½ tsp fine salt
- Food coloring (optional)
- Flavor extracts (optional – cherry, lemon, peppermint, etc.)
- Powdered sugar (for kneading and dusting)
Instructions
- Bloom the gelatin by mixing it with ¼ cup water. Let sit 5 mins.
- Combine sugar, corn syrup, remaining water, and salt in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until dissolved.
- Stop stirring once boiling and heat to about 250°F (hard-ball stage) using a candy thermometer.
- Remove from heat, then stir in the bloomed gelatin, food coloring, and flavor extract quickly.
- Pour the mixture onto a powdered sugar-dusted surface. Let cool slightly.
- Dust your hands with powdered sugar and knead until pliable and smooth (add more powdered sugar as needed).
- Cut into small bite-sized pieces and wrap in wax paper or store airtight.
Notes
Store the gum in an airtight container or wrapped in wax paper at room temperature. It will stay fresh for a few weeks.
