Description

A delightful cheese bread that is easy to make and perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups room temperature water
  • 24 tbsp all-purpose flour for shaping
  • 1 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheese, any kind
  • 1 cup cheese cubes, cut to about ½ inch

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together 3 cups of flour, sea salt, instant yeast, grated cheese, and cheese cubes.
  2. Measure 1 ½ cups of room temperature water and pour it into the dry ingredients.
  3. Stir until all the dough comes together and there are no pockets of flour left.
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in a warm area to rise for 3-4 hours.
  5. Near the end of the rising time, put your empty Dutch oven (with the lid on) into your oven and preheat to 425°F.
  6. Remove the plastic wrap from the dough and add 2-4 tablespoons of flour to help shape the dough into a ball.
  7. When the oven reaches 425°F, carefully remove the hot Dutch oven.
  8. Drop the dough into the hot Dutch oven.
  9. Bake your cheese bread at 425°F for 30 minutes with the lid on.
  10. After 30 minutes, remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 minutes until browned.
  11. Remove the loaf and let it cool slightly before slicing.

Notes

Serve warm, and feel free to experiment with different cheeses or add herbs for extra flavor.
