- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sugar, cooking until the onions are caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Pour in the beef broth and add thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and mix well to combine.
- Sprinkle Gruyère cheese over the top and cover the skillet until the cheese melts.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
Notes
For extra flavor, mix beef and vegetable broth, or add a splash of white wine after cooking garlic. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
