Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups sliced apples
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, sliced
Instructions

- Combine sliced apples, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour in a large bowl.
- Line a pie dish with the pie crust and fill it with the apple mixture.
- Dot the top with sliced butter.
- Cover with a second pie crust, seal the edges, and cut slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
- Bake for 15 minutes in the preheated oven, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
- Let cool before serving.
Notes
Use firm apples to hold shape when baked. For a shiny look, brush the top crust with milk or egg wash.
