Description

Delicious and easy-to-make gourmet caramel apples that are perfect for parties, gifts, or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 firm apples
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Chopped nuts (optional)
  • Chocolate (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Insert sticks into the top of each apple.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, butter, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir continuously until the mixture comes to a boil.
  3. Continue boiling for about 5-7 minutes or until the caramel turns a golden brown color.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. Dip each apple into the caramel, allowing excess to drip off.
  6. Roll in chopped nuts or drizzle with melted chocolate if desired.
  7. Place the dipped apples on a parchment-lined baking sheet to set.
  8. Let the caramel cool and harden before serving or gifting.

Notes

Use firm, tart apples like Granny Smith to contrast with the sweet caramel. Check the consistency of the caramel by testing one apple first.
