Description

Fun and delightful Heart Pretzels perfect for parties or celebrating special occasions.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 large egg
  • Coarse sea salt (for topping)
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • Optional: cinnamon sugar (for sweet version)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Stir in the flour and salt until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, covered, until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  5. Divide the dough into small pieces and roll each piece into a thin rope. Shape the ropes into heart shapes and place them on the baking sheets.
  6. In a pot, bring water to a boil and stir in baking soda. Boil each pretzel for 30 seconds, then transfer to the baking sheets.
  7. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sea salt or cinnamon sugar if desired.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let cool and enjoy your festive Heart Pretzels!
