Description

This simple recipe turns a few pantry items into soft, chewable gum with customizable flavors and colors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup of powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of glycerin
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup of gum base
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and glycerin over medium heat. Stir until the mixture reaches 240°F (hard ball stage).
  2. Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. Once it’s cool enough to handle, add the gum base and powdered sugar, mixing well.
  4. Knead the mixture until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. If desired, add food coloring and vanilla extract, kneading again to distribute evenly.
  6. Shape the gum into desired forms or wrap in wax paper. Enjoy!

Notes

Use gloves when kneading if the mix is hot. If the gum is too sticky, dust your hands with powdered sugar while shaping.
