Description

Delightful soft pretzels topped with a sweet cinnamon-sugar mixture, perfect for snacking or cozy nights in.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Pour warm water into a small bowl and sprinkle yeast over it, stirring in sugar until dissolved. Let sit for 5-10 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Pour yeast mixture into flour mixture and add melted butter. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with a damp towel. Let rise for 1-1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down dough and divide into 8 portions.
  7. Roll each portion into an 18-inch rope and shape into a pretzel.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Boil 10 cups of water with baking soda, drop pretzels in one at a time, cooking for 30 seconds each.
  10. Transfer pretzels to a parchment-lined baking sheet, brush with egg, and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar.
  11. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
