Description

Easy, crispy, low-carb fries made from turnips, perfect for a keto diet.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large turnips (about 1 pound), washed and peeled if preferred
  • 1 to 1.5 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp paprika or smoked paprika
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • Optional: 1 tbsp grated Parmesan or a sprinkle of fresh herbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  2. Cut turnips into 1/4- to 1/2-inch thick sticks.
  3. Dry the turnip sticks with a paper towel to remove extra moisture.
  4. Place turnips in a bowl, add oil, salt, garlic powder, paprika, and pepper, and toss well to coat.
  5. Arrange the turnip fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook in batches if needed.
  6. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 10 minutes, then shake the basket or flip the fries.
  7. Continue to cook for another 6–10 minutes until the fries are golden and crisp. Time may vary by air fryer and thickness of sticks.
  8. If desired, sprinkle Parmesan or fresh herbs immediately after cooking. Serve hot.

Notes

For extra crispiness, ensure the pieces are dry, use a bit of oil, and avoid overcrowding the basket.
