Description
Easy, crispy, low-carb fries made from turnips, perfect for a keto diet.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large turnips (about 1 pound), washed and peeled if preferred
- 1 to 1.5 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
- 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp paprika or smoked paprika
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- Optional: 1 tbsp grated Parmesan or a sprinkle of fresh herbs
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes.
- Cut turnips into 1/4- to 1/2-inch thick sticks.
- Dry the turnip sticks with a paper towel to remove extra moisture.
- Place turnips in a bowl, add oil, salt, garlic powder, paprika, and pepper, and toss well to coat.
- Arrange the turnip fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook in batches if needed.
- Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 10 minutes, then shake the basket or flip the fries.
- Continue to cook for another 6–10 minutes until the fries are golden and crisp. Time may vary by air fryer and thickness of sticks.
- If desired, sprinkle Parmesan or fresh herbs immediately after cooking. Serve hot.
Notes
For extra crispiness, ensure the pieces are dry, use a bit of oil, and avoid overcrowding the basket.
