Description

Delightful cookies with a rich buttery flavor and melt-in-your-mouth chocolate.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups brown sugar, packed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 2 cups chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing well.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
  6. Drop tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  8. If freezing, place the dough balls on parchment-lined baking sheets until solid, then bag by the dozen. When baking from frozen, add one to two minutes to the cooking time.

Notes

For a chewier texture, remove cookies while slightly underbaked. Store in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
