Description

Delightfully soft and colorful cinnamon rolls that are perfect for special occasions.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Red food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, combine milk, melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and a few drops of red food coloring.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and spread a layer of melted butter.
  5. Sprinkle cinnamon and brown sugar evenly over the dough.
  6. Roll the dough into a log and cut into slices.
  7. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and pour heavy cream over them.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Make sure your butter is melted but not hot when adding it to the dough. For a more vibrant pink color, add more red food coloring as desired.
