Description
These spooky caramel apples make a fun Halloween treat with a bright green coating and sweet caramel.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 medium apples (Granny Smith or your choice)
- 6 wooden sticks or popsicle sticks
- 12 ounces soft caramels or 1 cup caramel sauce
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup green candy melts or 8 oz white chocolate plus green gel color
- Black sanding sugar, black cocoa, or black icing for detail
- Optional: candy eyes, sprinkles, edible glitter
Instructions
- Wash apples and dry them well. Push a stick into each apple center.
- Melt caramels with cream and butter in a small saucepan on low heat. Stir until smooth.
- Dip each apple in the warm caramel, turning to coat, then lift and let excess drip. Place on a lined tray. Chill for 10–15 minutes to set.
- Melt green candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second bursts, stirring until smooth. If using white chocolate, add a small amount of green gel color.
- Dip the caramel-coated apples in the green coating, turning to cover. Place back on the tray.
- Add black details with a spoon or drizzle while coating is soft. Add candy eyes or sprinkles.
- Chill for an additional 15–20 minutes until coatings are firm.
Notes
Chill after caramel dip to make the green coat stick better. Serve cut in half for easy tasting.
