- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon strawberry jam or puree
- 1–2 teaspoons milk (as needed)
- A few drops red or pink food coloring (optional)
- Sprinkles (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a large bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar, stirring until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
- Stir in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely before cutting into heart shapes with a cookie cutter.
- In a small bowl, beat softened butter until fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar until smooth.
- Mix in the strawberry jam or puree, adding milk as needed for desired consistency. Add food coloring if desired.
- Spread frosting over each brownie and top with sprinkles if using.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. Can be refrigerated for a week or frozen for up to three months.
