Description
A delightful dessert that combines the salty crunch of pretzels with creamy layers of cream cheese and fresh strawberries.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups pretzels (about 5 oz), crushed
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for crust)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for cream layer)
- 8 oz whipped topping (Cool Whip or homemade)
- 1 box (6 oz) strawberry Jell-O
- 2 cups boiling water
- 1 lb fresh strawberries, sliced
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- Crush the pretzels in a zip-top bag with a rolling pin until you have small chunks.
- In a bowl, mix the crushed pretzels, melted butter, and 1/4 cup sugar until coated and sticky.
- Firmly press the mixture into the baking dish to form an even crust.
- Bake the crust for about 10 minutes or until it turns golden. Allow it to cool completely.
- In a clean bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with 1/2 cup sugar until fluffy and smooth.
- Gently fold in the whipped topping until just combined.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust, sealing the edges. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, dissolve the strawberry Jell-O in 2 cups of boiling water, whisking until fully dissolved. Let it cool to room temperature.
- Slice the strawberries and arrange them over the chilled cream cheese layer.
- Pour the cooled Jell-O gently over the strawberries and cream layer.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or until the Jell-O is fully set.
- Once set, slice into squares and serve chilled. Add extra whipped cream or strawberries if desired.
