Description
A delicious pulled beef brisket recipe featuring tender meat, caramelized onions, and rich flavors.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4–5 pounds beef brisket
- 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Trim excess fat from the brisket. Rub it with a mix of smoked paprika, ground cumin, black pepper, and salt.
- In a skillet, heat some oil and sauté the onions until they turn caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Place the caramelized onions in a slow cooker or Dutch oven. Put the brisket on top of the onions.
- In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar, soy sauce, beef broth, and apple cider vinegar. Pour this mixture over the brisket.
- Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or bake in a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C) for 3-4 hours.
- After cooking, let the brisket rest for 20 minutes. Then, shred the meat and mix it with the cooking liquid.
Notes
For added flavor, marinate the brisket overnight with the spice rub. Adjust sweetness by varying brown sugar, and add chili powder for heat if desired.
