Description
A classic Turkish chicken stew simmered in tomatoes, garlic, and spices. Comforting, rich, and perfect for a weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
1.5 lbs chicken thighs (cut into chunks)
2 tbsp olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp cumin
Salt and black pepper to taste
1.5 cups water or chicken broth
1 potato, diced (optional)
1 carrot, diced (optional)
1/2 bell pepper, chopped (optional)
Instructions
1. Heat olive oil in a large pot and sauté onions until translucent.

2. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
3. Stir in tomato paste, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper.
4. Add chicken and cook until lightly browned.
5. Pour in water or broth and bring to a boil.
6. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 30–40 minutes.

7. Add vegetables if using and cook until tender.
8. Adjust seasoning and serve hot with rice or bread.

Notes
You can prepare this dish in advance, it tastes better the next day.
Serve with bulgur, Turkish pilaf, or crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
