Description

Light and soft vanilla beignets that are easy to make at home and taste delicious dusted with powdered sugar.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  2. In another bowl, combine the milk, egg, and melted butter. Mix well.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  4. Heat oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Scoop small amounts of the batter and carefully drop them into the hot oil.
  6. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  7. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Serve warm on a plate or in a basket, dusted with extra powdered sugar. Pair with coffee or fruit jam.
