Description

A comforting dessert featuring tender baked apples topped with a buttery cinnamon crumble that melts in your mouth, perfect for any season.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples, peeled and sliced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • â…“ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and cornstarch. Spread evenly in a baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add cold butter and rub with your fingertips until the mixture forms coarse crumbs.
  4. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples.
  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes until the topping is golden and the apples are bubbling and soft.
  6. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Mix tart and sweet apples for best flavor. Keep the butter cold for a crisp topping. Add a handful of chopped pecans for extra crunch. Reheat leftovers in the oven to keep the crumble crispy.
