Description

A flavorful Cajun shrimp boil with shrimp, mussels, sausage, and vegetables, perfect for gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound shrimp, deveined
  • 1 pound mussels, cleaned
  • 4 quarts water
  • 1/4 cup Old Bay seasoning or Cajun spice mix
  • 2 lemons, halved
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 4 ears of corn, halved
  • 1 pound potatoes, quartered
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
  • Hot sauce, for serving

Instructions

  1. Bring water to a boil in a large pot and add salt, Old Bay seasoning, and lemon halves.
  2. Add potatoes and corn; cook until tender, about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Add sausages and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  4. Add shrimp and mussels; cook until shrimp are pink and mussels have opened, about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Drain the water and serve hot with hot sauce on the side.

Notes

Serve on a large platter or newspaper for a traditional touch. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
