- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add this to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Start and end with the flour.
- Pour the batter into a greased cake pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once cooled, frost with buttercream frosting.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding lemon or almond extract to the batter. Use a spatula for smooth frosting layers and decorate with piping bags.
