Instructions
- Begin by baking your three cake layers in different sizes. Typically, use a 6-inch, 8-inch, and 10-inch round cake pan.
- Once the cakes are cooled, level them with a knife if they have domed tops.
- Place the largest layer on a cake board and apply a round of frosting on top as filler.
- Stack the middle layer on top, using dowels for support if needed.
- Add frosting between this layer and the smallest one, then place that on top.
- Now, cover the entire cake with a thin layer of buttercream to create a crumb coat. Let it chill for 30 minutes.
- After chilling, apply a thicker layer of buttercream for decoration.
- Use fondant or colored frosting to create designs on the cake. Add sprinkles or other decor as desired.
Notes
