Instructions

  1. Begin by baking your three cake layers in different sizes. Typically, use a 6-inch, 8-inch, and 10-inch round cake pan.
  2. Once the cakes are cooled, level them with a knife if they have domed tops.
  3. Place the largest layer on a cake board and apply a round of frosting on top as filler.
  4. Stack the middle layer on top, using dowels for support if needed.
  5. Add frosting between this layer and the smallest one, then place that on top.
  6. Now, cover the entire cake with a thin layer of buttercream to create a crumb coat. Let it chill for 30 minutes.
