Description

A traditional Moroccan pastry that is sweet, rich, and shaped like a flower, perfect for special occasions and Ramadan.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup orange blossom water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, sesame seeds, melted butter, orange blossom water, sugar, cinnamon, and salt to form a dough.
  2. Roll the dough out and cut it into strips.
  3. Shape the strips into a flower design.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the shaped dough until golden brown.
  5. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  6. Dip the fried cookies in honey to coat thoroughly.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature with mint tea. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
