Description

Warm, sweet fritters filled with soft apple pieces and a hint of cinnamon, best served with a simple glaze.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups peeled and chopped apples
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 23 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and sugar in a large bowl.
  2. Whisk together milk and eggs in another bowl.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients until just combined.
  4. Fold in the chopped apples.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, frying until golden brown on both sides.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. Mix powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth for the glaze.
  9. Drizzle the glaze over the warm fritters before serving.

Notes

For best taste, glaze when fritters are warm. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
