Description

Delicious caramel apples that are great for parties or as gifts. A simple and fun treat for all ages!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Fuji)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional toppings (such as crushed nuts, sprinkles, or chocolate)

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly and insert a stick into the top of each apple.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, butter, corn syrup, and salt.
  3. Stir until the mixture comes to a boil.
  4. Continue to boil without stirring until the mixture reaches a golden brown color (around 250°F to 265°F on a candy thermometer).
  5. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Dip each apple into the caramel, coating evenly, and allow excess to drip off.
  7. If desired, roll the coated apples in toppings before placing on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool.
  8. Once set, enjoy your delicious caramel apples!

Notes

Use firm, cold apples for faster caramel setting. Dry apples well to avoid caramel sliding off. Work quickly when dipping to prevent the caramel hardening in the pan.
