- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup Kahlua coffee
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (for frosting)
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup Kahlua (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add the eggs, milk, oil, Kahlua, and vanilla extract; mix until smooth.
- Divide the batter evenly into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool for 10 minutes before removing from the pans.
- Beat together the softened butter, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, heavy cream, and Kahlua until smooth for the frosting.
- Frost between the layers and on top of the cake once cooled. Enjoy your delicious cake!
Notes
For an extra flavor boost, consider sprinkling some coffee grounds in the frosting.
