Description

A delightful dessert that combines rich chocolate with a hint of coffee and Kahlua liqueur, perfect for gatherings or just a sweet treat.


Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup Kahlua coffee
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (for frosting)
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup Kahlua (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, Kahlua, and vanilla extract; mix until smooth.
  4. Divide the batter evenly into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Allow the cakes to cool for 10 minutes before removing from the pans.
  6. Beat together the softened butter, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, heavy cream, and Kahlua until smooth for the frosting.
  7. Frost between the layers and on top of the cake once cooled. Enjoy your delicious cake!

Notes

For an extra flavor boost, consider sprinkling some coffee grounds in the frosting.
