- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup milk
- 3 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon dried culinary lavender
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon salt
- White frosting for decoration
- Gold edible polka dots for decoration
- Fresh purple blooms for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and dried lavender in a separate bowl.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cool, frost with white frosting and decorate with gold polka dots and fresh purple blooms. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
For stronger flavor, use fresh culinary lavender. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
