Description

A hearty and comforting Norwegian Fish Soup made with fresh fish, shrimp, and creamy goodness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 1 stalk celery, sliced
  • 4 cups fish stock (or water)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 200 grams white fish (such as cod or haddock), cut into chunks
  • 200 grams shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh dill for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion, carrots, and celery, and sauté until soft.
  2. Pour in the fish stock and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  3. Stir in the heavy cream and bring back to a gentle simmer.
  4. Add the white fish and shrimp, cooking until the fish is opaque and the shrimp is pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh dill.

Notes

Use fresh fish for the best flavor. Adjust the thickness of the soup with more or less cream according to preference.
