Description

A stunningly vibrant cake that combines color and flavor, perfect for special occasions.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Purple food coloring
  • Royal icing for decoration
  • Edible glitter (optional)
  • Feather cake decorations or piping tools

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Mix flour and baking powder; gradually add to the creamed mixture alternating with milk, mixing until smooth.
  5. Divide the batter into two bowls. Add purple food coloring to one bowl, mixing well.
  6. Pour the purple batter into one cake pan and the plain batter into the other.
  7. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool completely.
  9. Layer the cakes with frosting in between and cover the entire cake with the remaining frosting.
  10. Create feather decorations using royal icing and apply them to the cake.
  11. Optionally, add edible glitter for an extra pop.
  12. Display and serve to elevate your celebration!

Ensure your butter is softened for a fluffy batter. Avoid overmixing the wet and dry ingredients.
