Description

A vibrant and delightful flower cake perfect for special occasions, featuring beautiful purple and green layers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • Food coloring (purple and green)
  • Buttercream frosting (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
  3. Beat the butter and sugar together until fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the flour.
  6. Divide the batter into two bowls. Color one bowl with purple food coloring and the other with green.
  7. Pour the purple batter into one pan and the green into the other.
  8. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cakes cool completely.
  9. Spread buttercream frosting on top of the purple cake.
  10. Place the green cake on top of the purple cake, and frost the entire cake with the buttercream.
  11. Decorate with more frosting to create flowers and patterns as desired.

Notes

Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing and texture. For a richer flavor, add almond extract along with the vanilla. Experiment with decorations using edible flowers or colored sprinkles.
