Description

A delightful and easy recipe combining fresh blueberries with fluffy French bread, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of French bread, cubed
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Butter or non-stick spray for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. Place the cubed French bread in the baking dish and sprinkle the blueberries on top.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Pour the mixture over the bread and blueberries, making sure to soak the bread thoroughly.
  4. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight for best results.
  5. Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden and the custard is set.
  6. Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with maple syrup or powdered sugar!

Notes

To enhance your casserole, consider adding nuts or cream cheese for richness. Substitute blueberries with strawberries or raspberries if desired.
