- 1/2 cup vegetable oil

- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 2 tablespoons sugar (for macerating)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for whipped cream)
- Chocolate shell (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Mix flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla, and mix on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Stir in boiling water until combined; the batter will be thin.
- Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let them cool.
- Macerate strawberries by combining them with 2 tablespoons of sugar and letting them sit while cakes cool.
- Beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form for the whipped cream.
- Layer one cake on a plate, spread some whipped cream, and add a layer of macerated strawberries.
- Place the second cake on top, frost the top and sides with whipped cream, and drizzle chocolate shell over the top.
- Top with additional sliced strawberries if desired. Enjoy!

For best results, ensure all ingredients are at room temperature before mixing. You can substitute strawberries with raspberries or blueberries for a different flavor.
