Description

A simple and fast icing for sugar cookies that dries hard and provides a smooth finish for decorating.


Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons water (more if needed)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the powdered sugar and meringue powder in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add water and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  3. Adjust the consistency by adding more water if necessary.
  4. If desired, divide the icing and add food coloring.
  5. Use immediately to decorate cookies, and let the icing harden before stacking.

Notes

Add water slowly to avoid making the icing too thin. For piping, make the icing thicker, and for flooding, thin it to a smooth flow.
