Description

Delicious and fluffy Texas Roadhouse rolls that are perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F/45°C)
  • 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 1/24 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted, for brushing the tops)

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, active dry yeast, and 1 tablespoon of the sugar. Stir gently and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, remaining sugar, egg, and yeast mixture. Mix well.
  3. Add Dry Ingredients: Add 2 cups of flour and salt to the wet mixture. Stir until combined. Gradually add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Shape the Rolls: Roll the risen dough out into a rectangle, about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into 12-16 squares or rectangles.
  7. Second Rise: Place cut dough on a greased baking sheet, cover with a kitchen towel, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes until golden brown on top.
  10. Brush with Butter: Brush the tops with melted butter immediately after removing from oven.
  11. Serve: Enjoy warm with honey butter or your favorite meal.

Notes

Rolls taste best fresh but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. They can be frozen for up to 3 months.
