Description

A delightful classic Italian pizza topped with fresh mozzarella, basil, and tomatoes.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet (2¼ teaspoons) instant yeast
  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth, about 8-10 minutes.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  7. Spread crushed tomatoes evenly over the dough.
  8. Top with mozzarella slices and season with salt and pepper.
  9. Bake the pizza for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden.
  10. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.

Notes

For a crispy crust, use a pizza stone and preheat it in the oven.
